I love the 4th!

Happy 4th of July weekend! Today has been a little hectic for us, and not due to our usual reasons this weekend... In the past, we have been either traveling or getting the house ready to have people over. This morning I had an appointment to get a mole biopsied at 8:30am and then later today we have to get the little midgie to a weigh check. We are still having people over, but it will be a really scaled back version of what usually goes on. It won't be the typical beer guzzling that we do. Mostly because the hubs and I are really feeling the effects of being new parents. Our little angel has decided that sleeping at night is really more of an option than a necessity. He has already today (1:20pm) trippled the amount of time he slept last night. Ugh..
Anyway, I LOVE the 4th of July! My favorite holiday by far. The reason I love it so much is because it occurs when the weather is warm, everyone gets the day off work, no gifts or present exchange necessary, eating and drinking are givens, and you basically only need to hang out with friends and family. That is it! What's not to love?!?! We have an annual party and do just that, hang out with friends and family.
Each year we usually do a lot of food and drinks and decorating the house. This year, we don't have the energy. If we did have it in us, I would be making this cake. Is this not the most amazing thing you have ever seen?!?! LOVE IT! Maybe next year...

Here are some pictures from past 4th of July celebrations! I will come back after the weekend with some updated pics. This year we will add the midgie to the mix! I hope he loves the 4th as much as his mommy and daddy do!

2009 we were in Ireland on the 4th of July - specifically we were riding bikes on one of the Aryn Islands and after this picture we drank a few beers at a bar called The American. Perfect day. :)
